Awareness of African Swine Fever Detection

African Swine Fever (ASF) is a highly contagious and deadly disease in pigs. Cases of swine deaths due to ASF virus have been found in Indonesia. Therefore, in order to raise awareness regarding the ASF virus, Arasains collaborated with Eurofins Ingenasa conducting a webinar entitled "Awareness of African Swine Fever Detection" in April 14th , 2022.


Dr. Ángela Bononat Sánchez (Product Marketing Manager – Eurofins Ingenasa) as the main speaker in this webinar, she explained the important points of ASF, such as clinical signs, transmission, disease control systems and detection method. She mentioned that ASF is very highly transmissible viral, so all the body fluid and tissues from infected swine can transmit and infected the environment, equipment and feed. This is the reason why ASF is very hard to control. The method of detection for ASF reservoir and swine can used PCR and serological assay such as ELISA or lateral flow

We have participated in Allergen Workshop held by R-Biopharm in Arachem, Malaysia on 10 April 2025. This event was held hybrid with offline and online customers participating in this workshop. The offline customers are coming from Indonesia and Malaysia. This event covered about allergen regulation worldwide, allergen labeling, method validation on allergen testing, and test method in allergen management including gluten regulation and analysis.  One of the participants from Indonesia mention that this workshop is very beneficial for developed allergen method with quantitative and qualitative method for service laboratory that prioritize official method since R-Biopharm product already has AOAC-RI and AOAC OMA certificate. Arasains is proud to have organised a joint seminar with Romer Labs in February 2025 with titled “Pathogen Testing Solution for Food & Environmental Monitoring in Food Manufacturing” in Surabaya and Jakarta on February 18th and 20th, 2025. The event brought together 50 participants from various sectors including government and external laboratories, seafood exporters, the dairy industry, and meat processing plants. Expert speakers included Ibu Syayyida Muslimah from Indonesia's FDA and Ibu Sri Surati from the PPPOMN, who discussed food regulations and pathogen testing trends. Presentations were also delivered by Ms Liau Yong Wee, Managing Director of Romer Labs APAC, on FSSC 22000 and food safety planning, and Mr Shaun Loo, Lead Technical Support Specialist, who introduced the RapidChek product range for pathogen testing. The seminar covered key regulatory updates and best practices in food safety. Ms. Syayyida emphasized the importance of adhering to BPOM Regulation No. 13 of 2019 for processed foods, while Ms. Sri Surati highlighted the need for appropriate testing based on food type and endorsed certified alternative methods that comply with ISO 16140. Ms Liau Yong Wee gave a detailed overview of environmental monitoring and risk assessment components within the FSSC 22000 framework, stressing the importance of team formation and preventive measures for pathogen control. Mr Shaun Loo concluded with insights into RapidChek’s tools for detecting pathogens like Salmonella, Listeria, Campylobacter, and E. coli O157. From both session customers asking about the validation for the RapidChek Salmonella, Listeria and Campylobacter and in this seminar the speakers mention that the RapidChek product range has been validated by AOAC, therefore customers can directly do the verification depends on their matrices. The seminar ended with a hands-on demo of RapidChek SELECT Salmonella by PT Arasains' technical team, followed by an engaging interactive game aligned with the seminar's theme.
