WATER IN OIL MONITOR

On Line Water in Oil Monitor.

Arasains Indonesia supplies the EASZ-1 Water in Oil Monitor for accurate measurement of water in oil. The range is from 0.01% to 100%. This instrument measures the dielectric constant of water and oil and this correlates accurately with the water content of oil. The instrument has a sensor that is concentric to the pipe and area is chosen to match the quantity of water to be measured. Water in oil is often measured to prevent loss of revenue due to dilution or leakages of water into the system. This water in oil monitor is often used in palm oil factories to ensure that their receipt of oil is not contaminated. Marine engines also monitor their lubrication systems against water leakages using a water in oil monitor. In the oil and gas system the water in oil monitor is used to measure the amount of water in oil and this can be of high percentages. In this case it is called a water cut meter.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which is a better meter, an insertion type or flow through type?

Insertion meter have a small reading area. Water in oil is not homogeneously distributed in oil. As such insertion type meter tend to give a more erratic reading.

  • How can you ensure a more stable and accurate reading in the meter?

For best accuracy a static mixer is attached to the meter ahead of the sensor to mix the constituents properly.

  • Is it better to use a big pipe at lower velocity or a small pipe with higher velocity?

It is better to use a big pipe with a lower velocity to have a more stable reading. Easi flow has a bigger sensor for a bigger pipe as compared to insertion meter which have similar sizes for big pipes but longer insertion length.
